Winterize before the cold gets here!

One of our biggest concerns for our customers is preventative maintenance.  A lot of the problems that you encounter when your vehicle "breaks down" are preventable if you just follow a routine maintenance schedule.  Now is the time of year that you want to start looking toward the winter and making sure that the systems of your car are ready to take on the cold.  First, you need to make sure that your radiator has a proper coolant mix in it.  A lot of places and people will just put water into the radiator since we live in a relatively warm area of the US.  However, come winter freezes, if you keep only water in your radiator, you run the risk of rupturing it or parts of your engine with a cold snap and the expansion of that water.  The purpose of coolant is to lower the freezing point of water so this won't happen in the closed systems on your vehicle.  The next step you want to take is to make sure that you will have heat.  The most common killer of heat in a vehicle is the heater core going out.  This is located within the dash of your vehicle and is a pretty extensive repair although the part costs very little.  These are just a couple things to consider as we head into fall and winter.   We are here to answer any questions you might have and offer our services to get you ready, just give us a call.

We are here to keep you informed and keep you on the road.  Til next time!
